A healthy sewer line is vital to your plumbing system – it’s the underground pipe that carries wastewater from your home or business to the municipal sewer or septic system. When something goes wrong with the main sewer line, it can lead to serious problems like sewage backups in your property or leaks underground. Branded Tomorrow Plumbing offers professional sewer line repair and replacement services to address issues such as tree root intrusion, pipe breakage, blockages, or bellied (sagging) sewer lines. Our goal is to fix sewer problems with as little disruption as possible, using the latest techniques to save you time, money, and landscaping when feasible.
Common Sewer Line Issues We Handle:
Tree Root Infiltration: The roots of trees and shrubs seek out water sources and can penetrate sewer pipes through tiny cracks or joints. Tree roots are a frequent cause of sewer clogs and damage. They can grow into a thick web inside the pipe, catching debris and causing slow drains or complete blockages. We have special cutting tools to remove roots (as part of a repair or maintenance), and we can assess if a section of pipe needs replacement due to root damage.
Broken, Cracked, or Collapsed Pipes: Older sewer lines (especially those made of clay, cast iron, or Orangeburg fiber pipe) can crack or collapse over time due to ground shifting, corrosion, or pressure from above. A broken sewer line can leak sewage into the ground (which can cause wet spots in your yard, foul odors, or pest issues) and will eventually lead to blockage. We can pinpoint breaks with camera inspections and recommend repair options.
Bellied or Sagging Line: If part of the sewer pipe has sunk downward (often due to soil settling), it creates a “belly” where waste and sediment accumulate. Over time this can cause persistent clogs and further pipe strain. Repairing a bellied line often requires re-leveling or replacing that section of pipe.
Blockages and Grease Build-up: Sometimes sewer lines get heavily coated with grease (especially from kitchens) or blocked by flushed debris (like wipes or sanitary products that shouldn’t be flushed). We use methods like hydro-jetting to clear these heavy build-ups. If the pipe interior is rough or damaged and causing frequent blockages, re-piping might be the best long-term solution.
Repair Techniques: Depending on the situation, we may use trenchless repair methods or traditional excavation. Trenchless sewer repair (such as pipe lining or pipe bursting) allows us to fix or replace pipes with minimal digging. For example, pipe lining inserts a resin-saturated liner into the damaged pipe, which is then cured to form a “pipe within a pipe,” sealing any cracks (this works well if the pipe is mostly intact and just cracked or leaking in spots). Pipe bursting is another method where we pull a new pipe through the old one, fracturing the old pipe outward – this installs a brand new pipe in place with only small access holes dug at the ends. Trenchless methods save your lawn and driveway from the long trenches required in conventional replacements. However, if the damage is too severe or if the line has collapsed, we may have to excavate and replace a section or the entirety of the sewer line. Rest assured, we’ll explain the options and use the least invasive method appropriate for your scenario.
Warning Signs: We like to educate our customers on signs of sewer trouble: multiple drains backing up simultaneously (like if the toilet and tub are both backing up – often a main line issue), gurgling sounds from drains or toilets when other fixtures are used, sewage odors in or around the property, or soggy patches in the yard when it hasn’t rained. If you notice any of these, give us a call. Early intervention can sometimes prevent a huge mess.
After any sewer repair or replacement, we thoroughly test the flow and do a follow-up camera inspection to ensure the line is clear and sound. We handle coordinating any needed permits and inspections for sewer work as well.
