Underground Water Line Service in Louisville & Central Kentucky
A leaking or undersized water service line can cause low pressure, unexplained meter movement, high water bills, wet areas in the yard, erosion, or loss of water to the building. Branded Tomorrow Plumbing diagnoses, repairs, and replaces customer-owned underground water lines across Louisville, Hardinsburg, Brandenburg, Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Shepherdsville, Rough River Lake communities, and surrounding service areas.
Call or text (502) 656-1113 if you suspect an underground water leak or have lost water service.
Signs of a Water Service-Line Problem
- The meter moves when all fixtures and water-using equipment are off
- A sudden, unexplained increase in water use
- Low pressure throughout the building
- Wet, soft, sunken, or unusually green areas between the meter and building
- Water surfacing near the foundation, meter, driveway, or yard
- Discolored water or recurring debris after a line disturbance
- A utility notice indicating continuous use on the customer side
Diagnosis and Responsibility
The public utility generally controls the water main and part of the system up to its designated point of responsibility. The property owner is commonly responsible for the service line from that point to the building, but boundaries vary by utility and location. We help identify the likely failure area and coordinate with the customer or utility when shutoff, meter access, or responsibility must be confirmed.
Repair or Full Replacement
Targeted repair may be appropriate when the line material is otherwise sound, the leak is accessible, and the damaged area is isolated. Full replacement may be the better long-term option when the line is corroded, undersized, repeatedly failing, improperly installed, made from unsuitable material, or damaged in several places.
The recommended installation method depends on the route, soil, depth, existing utilities, foundations, driveways, landscaping, trees, access, local requirements, and approved piping material. Conventional excavation is sometimes necessary. Boring or another limited-excavation method may be possible only after the site is evaluated.
What the Approved Scope May Include
- Site evaluation and leak-location strategy
- Utility-location coordination before excavation
- Permit or inspection coordination when required
- Excavation, repair, rerouting, or replacement of the customer-owned line
- Approved piping, fittings, valves, bedding, tracer wire, sleeves, or transition components as required
- Pressure testing, flushing, and leak checks
- Backfilling and basic grading included in the written scope
Final landscaping, sod, seed, concrete, asphalt, specialty surfaces, irrigation, or structural restoration is not included unless specifically listed in the written estimate. Unknown underground conditions, unmarked private utilities, rock, groundwater, unsuitable soil, or concealed damage may require a revised scope.
